 भरत के नाम से संबोधित भारत वर्ष योगियों संतों तथा महान ऋषि-मुनियों का देश रहा है। इन्ही में महर्षि वेदव्यास संस्कृत के प्रकांड विद्वान थे। उन्हें कृष्ण द्वैपायन भी कहा जाता है। वे आदि गुरु हैं। इसलिए उनके जन्मदिन आषाढ़पूर्णिमा को गुरुपूर्णिमा के नाम से जाना जाता है। वेदांत दर्शन व अद्वैत वाद के संस्थापक वेदव्यास ऋषि पाराशर के पुत्र थे तथा उनकी माता का नाम सत्यवती था। पत्नी आरुणि से उत्पन्न महान बाल योगी सुखदेव इनके पुत्र हैं। एक परंपरा के अनुसार पांडू, धृतराष्ट्र और विदुर भी महर्षि वेदव्यास  के संतान माने जाते हैं। वेदव्यास ने महाभारत, ब्रह्मसूत्र, 18 पुराण, 18 उपपुराण की रचना किए हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त इन्होंने वेदों को उनके विषय के अनुसार ऋग्वेद, यजुर्वेद, सामवेद, अथर्ववेद के रूप में चार भागों में विभाजित किया है। महर्षि वेदव्यास की शिष्य परंपरा में पैल, जैमिनी, वैशंपायन, समन्तु मुनि, रोमहर्षण आदि का नाम महत्वपूर्ण रूप से सामने आता है। यह आषाढ़ पूर्णिमा गुरु महात्मा का पर्व है। इस दिन गुरु की पूजा का विधान शास्त्रों में मिलता है। गुरुपूर्णिमा वर्षा ऋतु में पङती है। इस दिन से 4 ...
